about

Matthew Short

Matt has progressed through the Australian pathway ranks playing for Victoria U19s and making the Australian U19 World Cup team in 2014 where he was the leading run scorer for Australia. This ultimately earned him a call up as a Victorian Rookie and Matt hasn’t looked back.

In the shorter formats, the former Renegade made a move to the Adelaide Strikers in BBL08 and made an immediate impact which saw him take figures of 2/14 and  65 off just 41 balls against the Melbourne Renegades in his first two matches. Fast forward to BBL11 and Matt went to a new level, opening the batting, bowling and taking some important catches which ultimately earned him Team of the Tournament. Matt made his International Debut in 2023 in both the T20 and ODI formats after a great BBL12 where he was named Player of the Tournament

Short’s versatility adds valuable depth and flexibility to any squad he is involved in.
